House Party!
September 2, 2009
Last Friday night:
We were practicing at Matt’s house for our Engine Room show when there came suddenly a steady rapping at the front door. Two girls entered.
But only one left.
Okay, that’s not true. But what is true is that we met Matt’s neighbors that night and they invited us to play at their party the following night. We immediately agreed and spent the rest of our practice thinking about cover songs. We met for a quick practice on Saturday with the following list of songs in mind for the party:
Buddy Holly (Weezer)
Undone (The Sweater Song) (Weezer)
I Wanna Be Sedated (The Ramones)
Louie Louie (The Kingsmen)
Whatever You Like (T.I.)
Paper Planes (M.I.A.)
Hey Ya (Outkast)
El Scorcho (Weezer)
Let me tell you what: everything sounded great. There were about 30-40 people at the house party, and Matt, Andrew, and Justin pounded out the jams on a concrete backyard porch. (Tim had a family matter to attend to that night.) They even demanded an encore from us.
Our originals and our cover songs all got a great response, so I suppose we’re now Tallahassee’s #1 party band. Drop us a line if you have a celebration that requires our services. We don’t ask for much in return: eats, drinks, a diamond studded microphone, and two gold-plated guitar picks.
